Rainfall Index

Rainfall Index policies include Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage, Annual Forage (AF), and Apiculture (API). RI plans are group policies, meaning individual losses are NOT covered. The index associated with your crop and grid determines your indemnity.

Rainfall indices rely on weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA is transitioning the data source for Annual Forage, Apiculture, and Pasture, Rangeland, Forage from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

The transition will occur according to the following schedule:

  • August 31, 2026
    Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) and Apiculture

  • April 30, 2027
    Annual Forage

Annual Forage (AF)

Provides coverage for crops planted annually for livestock feed/fodder. Annual Forage has 12 growing seasons.
